Cliches of Life

Tuesday's class began with a rather simple but complex statement: "Life is Not Fair." I will admit that I have heard myself say "That's not fair." I either catch myself say this phrase or have to be reminded that life is not fair. Of course, this phrase can be used on something silly or something very serious such as a tragedy. To me, another phrase that goes hand in hand with this one is "bad things happen to good people." In the case of a tragedy, the main two question many people ask themselves are "Why?" or "What If?" Unfortunately, this is life and many things are out of our control. Although "life is not fair" and we cannot control everything in our lives, it is important but hard at the same time to "live life to the fullest" and "live everyday as if it were your last." I strive to live by these words, even during the tough times, when it is very easy to forget the positive things in life.

  1. I must say, the moral quotes you've highlighted also are in my mind most of the time. Yes, bad things do happen to good people, it is totally unfair. I had a friend who died a couple years ago a tragic accident, and I repeated that phrase over and over. Until you realize these things just, happen. The best thing we can do is live with the time given to us, and to do good with that time. This can definatly relate to discrimmination that we've touched on in class. Treat those as you wish to be treated, because really, we all only get one life.

  2. Sorry to hear about your friend. I agree with you that we must live within the time given to us and make it the best we can!

  3. Also, one the reasons why I love country music is because it tells a story and has words of encouragement in the lyrics.
